The Evolution of Britney Spears

In this first cover, Britney is only aged 17 she is shown to be in less clothing so that it attracts the male gender to wish to buy the magazine. The framing of the magazine shows off her body and makes Britney more attractive and shows off the most attractive features of her body, her legs are also half cropped off so the male gender can just concentrate on her attractive features. The photos is a high angle shot so the audience can see Britney more clearly and focus more on her, the fact she is laying on bed sheets makes the magazine look sexy.
What Britney is wearing suggests that her image is to be sexy and attractive; these features would be highly attractive to men.
The props being used is a phone this could suggest her talking to the magazine and growing up being the typical teenager, the other prop used is a teddy teletubbie which could suggest her coming out of her childhood.
The setting used for the photo is silky pink covers; this could suggest sexiness, as it’s pink and girly. As its silky this could also suggest her womanly features of being soft. Silk sheets could also suggest lust.
The main colour scheme is pink and white, the pink could suggest her being girly and the white could suggest her being pure, these colours are attractive for her appearance.


In the second cover we notice Britney’s change in appearance. She’d around 20 years of age and the audience notices how her photo seems to be sexier confident, she has less clothing on which still shows that Britney is a attraction to males who buy the magazine. The image has cropped her thighs which emphasises her body more and her lady features. The image is a mid shot which could suggest her being more confident as the camera is closer towards her than in the previous magazine.
Britney’s appearance in choice of clothing is that it shows how sexual she is by the fact she has hardly any clothing on. The way Britney is structured on the page the reader notices that there is a sexual relationship as the magazine states “Britney on Justin that kiss and being alone”, could suggest her influence on men.
She uses the colour white a lot and white represents purity, this is quite ironic as she is presented in sexual way, and her posture is very confident in her sexuality, she almost represents a “sex Goddess”. The way the lighting hits her is cleverly structured as it hits her main features such as breast, bum and her hair and face this highlights her looking glamorous.
The photo is mid-shot, so we can she her body features aswell as facial expression.


In the third cover, the shot is a close up so that the audiences can see her facial expressions, the fact the sell line/anchorage text states “inside an American tragedy” show that the close up shot is relevant, as we can see her sad face which corresponds to the sell line. The photos are also in black and it could suggest looking back into the past it’s a good nostalgia. There are not a lot of main sell lines and doesn’t want to over crowd Britney’s face the magazine. This connotes she is the main feature within the magazine, wants to keep the audience interested in Britney’s personal life. Britney spears distracts the reader with her close up shot as it is close and personal as if indicating that the reader is close and personal with Britney spears life, this is a good selling point as people would be interested to know about Britney spears. As the previous magazines suggested getting inside her body, this magazine is indicating getting inside her mind the reader knows this through the shot of just her face. The anchorage of the text corresponds with the picture as states Britney and the picture is Britney as well as “tragedy” and the photo is a close up in black and white seeing a sad expression on Britney’s face.
