Double Spread Analysis Of A Magazine Article 1

This article “Rave the plant” is about a dance and club this suggests the target audience who would read this double spread article and listen to dance music are of the younger generation ages 18-25, I believe this because you have to be 18 years of age to get into a club and it is more commonly known for clubbers and ravers to be aged 18+ as this is the legal age to go “clubbing”. It is also about the club being environmentally friendly therefore it is also aimed at people who are interested in saving the environment. The language in the article is very technical and advanced using language such as “LED lights”, “millions of tonnes of co2” and “organic beer”. I noticed the language is very scientifically which aims to show the technical and fun side to clubbing aswell as keeping the environment safe.

They also use a lot of slang that relates to the clubbing scene and young generation “speech” such as ‘chewing the fat’, this will help the target audience to relate to the article, as they are likely to understand, it also draws them into wanting to read the magazine.
The colour scheme on this article is black, white, yellow, green and pink. The black helps the brightness of the pink and yellow to stand out causing a contrast and the pink and yellow represent the bright and crazy world of clubbing. These bright colours could also be foreshadowing the bright lasers and lights at the clubs.
The style of text used is quite standard plain written, however the titles at the beginning of the article are creative an funky this goes well with the theme of the article “raves/clubs”, the R at the beginning of the article is stylish then proceeds onto standard written, the article may have done this as wanting to use creative fonts in some parts to set the scene of hypnotising and how outrageous and exciting clubs are, this designates the club scene.

The article is mainly dominated by pictures of ravers and clubs which shows the magazine is most interested in the scene rather than what is being said, however the article does have a good amount of text too, so it levels out the distraction of pictures, the article used this clever technic to draw the reader in with pictures and after browsing the pictures of exciting clubs, and bright colours they are more intrigued to want to read the article.

The tone the article use’s is as if it is talking to someone who is very much in this sort of scene and is interested to know more about the club life. They come across as if people who will read this article will understand what they are meaning therefore the article use’s informal language.

The images in this article show the club as very bright, fun and a happy place to be as there are people smiling and dancing, there are many pictures of the LED lights and pictures of people having a good time which all makes the reader feel that it is a fun exciting place to be. I think this article does need prior knowledge to fully understand what is being said, as it may be hard for some people to understand knowledge of the environment and clubbing scene. The article also hasn’t stated where the place is or why it is so special they therefore expect that the reader already knows about it and knows about clubbing and environment.
